We are so thrilled to be getting married in our favorite place—Healdsburg, California.  Nestled along the Russian River, Healdsburg is in northern Sonoma County and home to amazing wineries, restaurants, and landscapes.  An hour and a half north of San Francisco, Healdsburg has a small town vibe with world class tastes and feels.  If you’ve been here, you know why we chose to get married here. If you haven’t, we can’t wait to share this special place during this most special time in our lives.

Steph is a New York Times published writer and complainer, having written into the Wedding Etiquette and numerous advice columns for vindication and validation.  When she’s not writing into advice columns (which is not often), Steph manages institutional partnerships for CARE by day and enjoys making huge messes and cooking by night.

Douglas Richard DeMarco

Doug is man who perpetually vibes young. An in demand web designer/developer for Spotify, Doug is known for his tight fitting shirts and bulging muscles.  But he’s not all brawn and brains, he’s an excellent artist and a budding guitarist.  When Doug isn’t making websites or practicing guitar, he can be found playing grand theft auto and following Steph around to clean up the water drips that appear in her wake.

How We Met

It was a rainy Thursday night in the West Village when Steph and Doug both decided to check out Automatic Slims, the dive bar known for it’s douchey clientele and crowded Friday night dance parties.  On that particular Thursday, the bar was surprisingly empty save for a handful of regulars. Doug and Steph, each there with a pal from Chicago, didn’t immediately catch each other's eyes but were forced to make small talk as their friends struck up a conversation about their shared hometown.  With the help of Bud Light and vodka soda, Doug and Steph’s conversation flowed as their friends’ conversation fizzled. Before they knew it, Doug and Steph’s friends left and they were closing down the bar. Knowing his phone was close to dying, Doug asked for Steph’s number, and the rest is history. Note: Creative liberties have been taken to protect the innocent and their parent’s perceptions of them.

Welcome Event

 UPDATED  We'll kick things off at deLorimier Winery located just down the street from both our favorite winery (Hawkes) and our wedding venue (Foley). The vineyard setting will provide a beautiful backdrop to this casual gathering featuring lawn games, Mexican food from a local taco truck, and amazing wine from Alexander Valley.

Wedding Ceremony & Reception

This relatively new winery (previously known as Stryker) overlooks lush vineyards with views of the hills and valleys of Sonoma on the horizon. Known for their farm to table food, peppery merlot, and barrel room fit for an epic dance party, we can’t wait to start our lives as husband and wife with all of you* by our sides at Foley Sonoma.

Getting to and From Wedding Events

#TBT to middle school.  Yellow school buses will transport you to and from all wedding events, making stops at Healdsburg Town Square and the Best Western Dry Creek Inn (where we have a wedding block) on both Friday and Saturday nights.  

 

*Please note that while we love your kids, our wedding will be adults only.
